Another eight hours completed for my practicum! Although I think I have started to even out with my processing speed, which is a little disappointing. I mentioned to the archivist that I'm starting to think I won't be done by June, and she said that I could ask the volunteers for help if I want to get this collection done by the end of my practicum. I might have to take her up on that soon...

Otherwise, this session was pretty standard, nothing too out of the ordinary. I found a new "oldest document" so far, it dates back to 1924, so I made note for the date range on the finding aid.

One thing that was interesting in today's patient files was a photograph of a patient in front of the home, taken presumably sometime while he was a patient from 1927 to 1934. I've mentioned before about the headshots on the applications, but this was different, like the man was dressed up and posed for a photo to share with family or friends. I checked with the archivist to see if the photo should be removed to be stored with other photographs for preservation, but she said to leave it with its original context. I thought it was really neat, so I wanted to share it here.

Stats:

  • Files processed: ERVIN - GALLOWAY, 75 folders (655 total folders processed)

  • Hours: 8hrs (96 total hrs)
