To start our third week in London, we went to the Black Cultural Archives in Brixton, followed by the British Museum. This was another highlight class session for me, because we were treated like serious students and professionals in the field, and less like a tourist group. The choice to visit the Black Cultural Archives before the British Museum was also not lost on me. At the Black Cultural Archives, we got to see some materials from the collection, including various black publications, including the Black Feminist one below. These were very cool to view, not only due to the subject matter, but for me, I was able to connect them to a collection of local gay and lesbian newsletters I've been scanning at work. They look like they could have been part of the same zine.

In contrast, our visit to the British Museum was not as enjoyable for a few different reasons. The museum itself was packed with people and very hot and muggy inside. Additionally, our tour guide was not the best and was honestly a bit rude. And, of course, the subject matter was not as interesting, but then that might be because I definitely went in with a critical mind. With that said, though, I greatly appreciate that the British Museum followed the Black Cultural Archives!
